Hide, Lock, Take

Hide, Lock, Take

Our police officers are here to serve you! And as much as they would like to be in all places, all the time, this is simply not an option.

Vehicle burglaries, commonly referred to as a BMV, (Burglary of a Motor Vehicle) are one of the most common crimes. And this isn’t just the case here in Bruceville-Eddy, but across the United States! Typically, vehicles are being targeted in the middle of the night parked in the driveway or in front of the victim’s house.

One of the major reasons criminals spend so much of their time breaking into vehicles is the fact they can make a big score with relatively little risk of a confrontation with an angry property owner. Many of the vehicles burglarized don’t even require the suspect to break a window because they are left unlocked. One would be quite shocked to hear the value of the items, including firearms, left inside some vehicles at night.

The good news is, you can make a difference and help reduce the number of vehicle burglaries in our community if you make it less appealing for the thieves. Please help our law enforcement officers prevent more vehicle break-ins, by HIDING your valuables, LOCKING your cars, and TAKING your keys with you!

The CITIZENS many times can offer our Police Officers with valuable information that can help solve many of the crimes that occur. The best way to be involved with crime prevention is if you SEE something suspicious, SAY something, and report it to the Police Department. The Bruceville-Eddy Police Department has a non-emergency phone number 254-859-5072 and can be reached 24 hours a day.
